DIY Scandinavian Clay Christmas Ornaments

This year we have decided to go for a Scandinavian christmas theme and I wanted to make a quick diy ornament to personalise our tree. I found some really sweet christmas cookie cutters at Sainsburys. My favourite is the house shape (it seems that at the moment I have a small obbsession with houses.. !! ) The clay recipe is quick and doesn’t need to be baked for hours like salt dough.

Clay Recipe

1 cup Bicarbonate Of Soda
1/2 cup Corn Flour
3/4 Water

Place all your of ingredients into a pan on a medium heat and stir very well to get rid of all the lumps. Bubbles will start to form and it will begin to thicken. It happens very quickly once the bubbles form. Take it off the heat when it looks like mashed potato (I know it sound weird but trust me it will make sense when you see it). Leave to cool with a damp tea towel over it. Once cool you can now start using the dough. The more you work it the smoother it is. Use corn flour on your surface if it feels like it might stick and then you can roll it out.

DIY Cute Christmas Advent Calendar

I really loved creating this DIY project. It is simple and you don’t need a lot of things to create it. I wanted to have an advent calender that actually looks good and which also in its self becomes a christmas decoration. The great thing about making your own advent calender is you can put whatever you want into them. My mum used to put bracelets and toys into mine when I was little. So for me there is something quiet nostalgic about having an advent calender even though I am at the age were I don’t really need one anymore!

Delicious Hot Chocolate Recipe

This is one of my favourite hot chocolate recipes ever !!! It is so chocolatey, rich and indulgent. Perfect for a cold day. Also I used a technique I learnt to make frothy milk to make it extra creamy and rich without using whipped cream. You can always add whipped cream which is an extra yummy treat.

Ingredients

1/4 cup Dark or Milk Chocolate
1 cup Milk (any kind you like)
1/4 teaspoon Cocoa Powder
Sugar to your taste
Marshmallows
Note you will need a flask or jar for this recipe to froth the milk.

Step One: Heat your milk in a pan on a low heat and  heat until small bubbles form around the outside (be carful not to burn it). While your milk is heating put your chocolate into a small bowl.

Step Two: Pour half your milk over the chocolate and let it sit for 2 mins .Then whisk together. As you are whisking add your 1/4 teaspoon cocoa powder and continue whisking or the cocoa powder will clump otherwise.READ MORE

Quick And Simple Noodle Soup Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove finely diced
  • 1 thinly sliced red pepper
  • 2 thinly sliced carrots
  • Half a courgette diced into small cubes
  • A handful of green beans diced up
  • A good chunk of red cabbage finely sliced
  • 2 finely sliced spring onions (for Garnish)
  • 1 cup of vegetable stock
  • 2 cups of water
  • Soy sauce
  • Chinese five spice
  • Honey
  • Rice wine vinegar
  • Noodle of your choice ( I have vermicelli noodles)

First you want to fry of your onions until they are soft and golden on a low/medium heat. Then add in your garlic, being careful the garlic doesn’t burn as it will taint the dish. After about a minute of frying off the garlic add in all the vegetables bar the red cabbage and spring onions. If you add the red cabbage now it will lose all of its colour and be very soft (I made that mistake). Fry for 5/6 minutes until the vegetables are soften slightly.
